SMT Lubricants
1. What is lubricants?
Lubricants is a class of lubricants with non-Newtonian fluid characteristics between semi-fluid and solid obtained by one or more thickeners dispersed in one or more liquid lubricants. The basic characteristic of grease is that its form is a base oil that is easy to adhere and has relatively low fluidity.
2. Basic composition of lubricants
① Thickening agent. The thickener is generally dispersed in a colloidal state to form a spatial network structure in the liquid lubricant, or only dispersed in the form of a dispersed phase in the base oil to adsorb and restrict the flow of the base oil. The choice of thickening agent directly affects the mechanical stability, colloidal stability, water resistance and other properties of grease.
② Base oil. Base oil is the dispersing medium of thickening agent. The selection of base oil directly affects the performance of grease such as lubricity, evaporability, low temperature and compatibility with sealing materials.
③ Additives. Additives can improve some performance of grease. According to the performance requirements of grease, additives such as structure improvement agent, antioxidant, metal passivation agent, extreme pressure agent, oil agent, anti-wear agent, wire drawing agent can be added.
3. The main function of lubricants
The three basic functions of grease are lubrication, protection and sealing:
① Lubrication: the grease has the effect of reducing the surface wear of the two friction pairs in relative motion.
② Protective effect: grease can isolate or reduce the friction surface or the surface of the object and the contact with corrosive substances, play a role in reducing or slowing the chemical action on the surface of the material erosion and damage, including rust resistance, corrosion resistance and water resistance.
③ Sealing effect: grease can provide sealing effect for the contact surface between some components.
